Frequently Asked Questions About Volunteering

  • We welcome volunteers of all ages. For youth volunteers, we ask that a responsible adult always be present to volunteer with them. 

  • We will work with you to coordinate a volunteer shift based on your schedule. Please select your preferred shift in the volunteer form. 

  • a.     We have a dedicated training offered on a rotating basis for all individuals interested in volunteering; we offer this through LDA’s Recovery Coach Academy (RCA). The training takes place over 5 days, for 6.5 hours each day, and includes a 30-minute lunch break. We offer 30 CEUs for the completion of this training. This must be completed by all volunteers prior to any volunteer shift. 

  • All volunteers are expected to wear closed-toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Masks and gloves will be provided upon request. 

  • Volunteers will be tasked with building maintenance, supporting LDA events, peer coaching, organizing and hosting game night, organizing and hosting movie night, workshops, cleaning, and telephone recovery support calls. 

  • We welcome those looking to complete court-ordered community service and offer a Volunteer Time Sheet to track hours completed. Upon request, LDA can provide a letter of progress or completion. 

  • There are no physical requirements for volunteers. Accommodations can be arranged, so please don’t hesitate to contact us. 

  • We welcome group volunteers in addition to individuals! Please complete the volunteer form so that we may contact you. 

  • All supplies needed for volunteering are provided. We welcome volunteers to bring their own snacks; water is provided by LDA. 

  • If you aren’t able to volunteer as scheduled, please contact us at (724) 212-7899. We can work with you to either reschedule your volunteer shift, or cancel if needed. 

  • We ask that all volunteers arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of their volunteer shift so that we may start promptly at the scheduled time. 

  • We are located at 408 8th Street, Rear Entrance, New Kensington, PA 15068. Volunteers can park in our parking lot at no cost for the duration of their volunteer shift.
