MEET OUR LDA CO-FOUNDERS

Dr. VonZell Wade is the Co-founder of Lost Dreams Awakening (LDA) Recovery Community Organization (RCO), New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Dr. Wade is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and the owner of Luo Counseling Center, Lower Burrell, PA.  He is also an Advanced Implementation Specialist (AIS) with the Opioid Response Network (ORN) at UMKC.


Dr. Wade graduated from Seton Hill University, Greensburg, PA, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services; and Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA, where he earned his Master of Science in Education and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Wade is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), a Recovery Coach Trainer of Trainers (TOT) and an adjunct faculty member of Faces and Voices of Recovery, Washington, DC. Dr. Wade is also the co-developer of Pennsylvania’s Peer Recovery Support Workforce (PRSW) Program - a six week curriculum developed in response to the Covid-19 crisis for the PRSW; a co-developer of the Embracing Differences Program designed for and delivered to Law Enforcement, educators, and students; Dr. Wade is a skilled facilitator of the Bridge to Faith Program - designed to educate communities of faith on Substance Use Disorder Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery. Dr. Wade serves to advance research for recovery support for justice-involved and emerging adult populations as a JEAP Initiative Provider and Payor Board Member.


Dr. Wade has provided care and training in the realm of Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health for over 20 years, serving both the adult and adolescent population. Dr. Wade has been in active, on-going recovery since 1991, and has participated in multiple  recovery pathways, self-help, and change groups. 

Laurie Johnson-Wade is the Co-Founding Director of Lost Dreams Awakening (LDA) Recovery Community Organization (RCO, New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Laurie is an Advanced Implementation Specialist  (AIS) with the Opioid Response Network (ORN) at UMKC; and a Steering Committee Member for the Peer Recovery Center of Excellence Workforce Development Core Team 3; she is also and adjunct faculty member of Faces and Voices of Recovery RTI.


Laurie is a Certified Behavioral Consultant (CBC), a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS); a Recovery Support Supervisor (RSS); a Forensic Peer Specialist (FPS), and has a degree in Health Administration.


Laurie brings over 30 years of lived recovery experience (Established May 30, 1991), to the revolutionary and rewarding work of Recovery Support Services and Recovery Coaching.


Laurie is a trainer of the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches; a facilitator of the PA Family Support Alliance (PFSA) Recovering Families Program, and the PROACT Family Education Series.

Laurie was named as the Pittsburgh Recovery Walk's 2020 Advocate of the Year, serves on the Board of Directors for Faces and Voices of Recovery - serving as the Chair of the CAPRESS Committee, as well as the DEI Committee. Laurie is a proud member of the African American Federation of Recovery Organizations (AAFRO)  and Black Faces Black Voices (BFBV). 


Laurie seeks to integrate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within all systems of care - spanning Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery..

We envision a world where recovery is understood, promoted, embraced, and enjoyed and where ALL who seek recovery have access to support, care, and the resources needed for long-term recovery. We provide non-clinical peer recovery support and support all pathways to Recovery.  WE "Provides Living Proof that Recovery is Possible".
